As of February 19, 2008, the RecycleBank program in Elk Township turned 1 year old.  Over the past year, the Township's recycling rate has increased over 100%.  Click Here to access a graph that shows by tonnage how our recycling rate has increased.  To see how our recycling has increased by pounds, Click Here.
Recycling has become a very important issue within the State of New Jersey.  In January 2008, the State tax on waste that we send to the landfill was increased.  This means that as we recycle more, we also save more money.

The residents of Elk should be congratulated for their efforts but please remember we still need to continue recycling.  Over the past year our setout rate has gone up over 50% (graph), but we need to continue the positive trend. Over the next year, the Township will be offering more ways for our residents to be able to recycle.
