Dear Elk Resident,
I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving with your family. As winter now begins to set in on our town, we should all enjoy the beautiful scenery Elk has to offer. Much of our wildlife is continuing to show itself as you drive around town. It is not uncommon to see dozens of wild turkey, or deer grazing near one of our farm fields. If you keep your eyes to the sky, you will even see numerous Red Tail Hawks, and our new family of Bald Eagles that are beginning to soar above the skies over Lake Garrison and Haynicz farm. These are the picturesque views that make our town one of the best places to live in South Jersey.
I want to take a moment to thank Committeeperson Michele Doyle for her service to Elk Township. For the past 3 years she has been an honest voice for the residents of our town. As the liaison to our Environmental and Agricultural Committee's, she has worked hard to keep Elk's natural resources something we can all be proud of. During her tenure on the Township Committee, she also served as Deputy Mayor, and was a driving force with her contributions to our Recreation Committee, and "Elk Day" over the past several years. On behalf of the entire Elk Township Committee I want to say, "Thank You for your time of service to our town". I wish Michele all the best in her future endeavors.
As we say goodbye to Committeeperson Doyle, I welcome the return of Committeeman Wayne Swanson and our new Committeeman Elect, Mike Pantaleo. Wayne and Mike have been actively involved in our town, and I look forward to working with both of them. I will continue to work with the entire committee for the betterment of Elk, and continue to encourage those residents who wish to get involved to do so.
I hope you have a safe and happy Holiday Season with your family and friends, and a wonderful New Year.
Mayor, Phil Barbaro
